DGIST to Hold International Symposium on Real-time Distributed Computing, 'IEEE ISORC 2021'

Prof. Kyung-Joon Park, the Department Chair of Information and Communication Engineering is to take the role as a Head of Joint Operation Committee at IEEE ISORC 2021

DGIST will hold ‘IEEE ISORC (International Symposium On Real-Time Distributed Computing) 2021’ in June, next year. Prof. Kyung-Joon Park, the department chair of Information and Communication Engineering, will be in charge of preparing the symposium as a head of joint operation committee for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers(IEEE) ISORC 2021.

ISORC started from 1998, mainly focused on international symposium dealing with real-time distributed computing. Next year, the symposium will be held at DGIST, and the world-class researchers in real-time distributed computing from all over the world will join and present their latest academic achievements and will also seek for the research collaboration across different scientific fields such as AI based IoT, autonomous vehicle, intelligent traffic system, and cyber physical systems etc.

For the preparation of the symposium, Prof. Kyung-Joon Park, the department chair of Information and Communication Engineering, will lead the joint operation committee of ISORC 2021 in recognition of his academic contributions on the field of cyber physical systems and IoT. Professor Hoon Sung Chwa, at the Department of Information and Communication Engineering will be responsible for the symposium operation as the local arrangement chair.

Through hosting the symposium, DGIST is expected to grasp an opportunity to present rest of the world with the latest AI and real-time computing technologies that are developed in Korea. Also, the symposium will be of great help for understanding what the global trends are in the field of core technologies and services in the middle of the fourth industrial revolution while the event is also perfect starting point for establishing a global network for any relevant domestic IT industry.

Prof. Kyung-Joon Park, the department chair of Information and Communication Engineering, said, “By hosting the symposium, DGIST will play a leading role in introducing the most advanced AI and real-time computing technologies in Korea, when the event itself will also be an perfect chance to check out the global trends of the core technologies and services that are in demand in the era of the fourth industrial revolution, and to establish a academic network for relevant domestic IT industry for further advance in the field.”

Meanwhile, IEEE ISORC 2021 will be held from Tuesday, June 1st to Thursday, June 3rd, 2021. Research paper submittance is due January 31st, 2021.
